Terms and Conditions

Last updated: September 2026

These Terms and Conditions govern the use of the Odisha Rooftop Gardening (RTG) Portal, operated by the Central Horticultural Experiment Station (CHES), Bhubaneswar, under the Odisha State Plan Scheme for the promotion of rooftop gardening and urban horticulture, in partnership with ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), Bengaluru. By registering for an account, you agree to these terms.

1. Who can register

The portal is open to three categories of user: Roof Top Gardeners, Garden Input Vendors, and Service Provider Vendors. Every new account is reviewed by an administrator before it becomes active; CHES reserves the right to approve, reject, or later suspend any account that does not meet the portal's purpose or violates these terms.

2. Accuracy of information

You agree to provide accurate information when registering and to keep your profile — including contact details, city, and garden or business information — up to date. CHES may reject or suspend accounts found to contain false or misleading information.

3. The Green Coin system

The portal uses an internal "green coin" balance to record certain purchases and rewards between Roof Top Gardeners and vendors. Green coins:

  • have no cash value and cannot be withdrawn, exchanged for money, or transferred outside the portal;
  • are credited and debited automatically as part of the ordering and cancellation process described on the portal, or by an administrator where necessary to correct an error;
  • may be adjusted, paused, or discontinued by CHES if the scheme funding or program design changes.

4. Product and service listings

Garden Input Vendors and Service Provider Vendors are responsible for the accuracy of the listings, pricing, and availability they submit. All listings are reviewed before appearing publicly, but CHES does not independently verify the quality of goods or services offered and is not a party to any transaction agreed between a gardener and a vendor.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the portal, including by impersonating another person, attempting to access another user's account or wallet, submitting false product listings, or using the messaging feature to send unsolicited or abusive content. Accounts found in violation may be suspended or terminated.

6. Data and privacy

Information you provide — including registration details, garden data, and messages — is used to operate the portal, evaluate program outcomes, and contact you about your account or the Rooftop Gardening Project. CHES will not sell your personal data to third parties. The Privacy Policy explains in full what we collect, who can see it, how long we keep it, and how to delete your account.

7. Limitation of liability

The portal is provided as part of a government-funded outreach program on an "as is" basis. CHES and its partner organizations are not liable for losses arising from transactions between users, gardening outcomes, or temporary unavailability of the portal.

8. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated as the program evolves. Continued use of the portal after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

9. Contact

Questions about these terms can be directed to info@rtgproject.org or via the Contact page.
